BDSO CANCELED
IT`s not a go!!!!!!! BDSO Caneceled
Well we are sad to say that as of Jan 11, 2010 the BigDawg Shootout has come to an end. We were all excited to give it a go again this year. We were working with the PVSC( unofficially) to bring you one of the best snowmobile shows ever. All was looking good. Unfortunately we have hit a road block and just don`t have the resources to pursue it further.
Will try to keep this as short as possible but just want to give all you fans a little in site on the problem. As you all know that we started this years ago as a little outlaw event. No insurance, no tenders, just a balls to the wall free for all. Over the years as it grew in size we knew we needed to start to do it right. So for everybody`s safety we had insurance and got tenders to be legally in the area for the days event. It protected you as well as the BDSO.
All was going good this year until the BC government stepped in. Basically BC Tourism is now responsible for handing out the tenders. So we new something was different when we got a 70 plus page application form(s) to fill out requesting a tender. Again I will keep this short. Because it is a motorized event the fees went from 250 bucks to 3300 for tender, 250 for filing, and we also needed to refund everybody who paid to be in attendance a dollar. So we are out almost 4 grand before insurance, plowing of road , parking lot, grooming, shiitters, first aid, share of helicopter. Not to mention fronting money for BDSO clothing, fencing ,signs etc which we have to add to every year.
With this added huge expense and with no major sponsor we are not comfortable hoping we can recoup enough from the gate fee to cover all of these expenses. We are not rich enough to roll them dice and come up short.
So we think it is kind of ironic that BC Tourism who`s job it is to promote and bring people to BC actually killed an event that did just that. Go figure
So Paul and myself want to thank all who have enjoyed and supported the BDSO over the years. We also want to thank everyone who has helped us out over the years.
Thank you
Shawn & Paul.
