Thanks for your patience
Well another year is in the books. It did not go the way we had planed but the show still went on.. Mother nature through us
a curve ball with extremely cold weather and high winds but we managed. We got to the drag hill only to find it had been pretty much
all blown away . Everybody scrambled and helped us rebuild the course and track down all the sponsors banners that were setup the
day before. Because of the high winds we had to improvise and snow barriers were shoveled all along the staging area to help keep
people out of the extremely cold wind and they also gave us a place to put banners without blowing away. Before long the area looked
like some military winter ex with snow trenches all through out the spectator area. Looked kinda cool. It took Red Dog no time to
get the tunes up and running and Randy took a hold of the mcing duties.
As the bibs were being signed for guys started
to do some warm up heats to test out the drag hill. Once everybody was happy with that the elimination rounds started. It worked on
a two check elimination. Four racers at a time lined up, if you were the two slowest of that heat you were awarded a check. Once you
received two checks your day was done. We eventually got down to the final six which was made up of, #18 Micheal Shelwood, #4 Tyler
Earl, #11 Mike Irmen,#9 Brad Story,#3 Jason Busat, and #19 Neil McLaren. When all was said and done it come down to Mike Irmen and
Neil McLaren who both did not have a check at this point. They spit a heat so it came down to one last heat. Mike squeaked it out
by a ski length to to take the win. Mike took the win on a Impulse powered turbo Nytro.Mike hurt his drag sled testing on Friday and
Paul from Impulse asked Mike to Line his up for the day. Mike being a competitor took up the offer and well it seemed to work.
Now
on to the Hill climbs. Again we waited to the last minute to see if the sun would warm up the mountain some but it did not and for
safety reasons we the organizers had to cancel them. It killed us to do it but rider safety comes first. A few guys still tested
the hill out and confirmed it was like a skating rink and was unsafe. Earlier in the day a young snowmobiler broke his leg because
you had no control once you turned out. It was our call and we feel we made the right choice.
Besides the drags the manufactures
were all out there demoing their 2009 lineup. That was cool to see and we hope everybody got over there to test them out.Even with
the bad weather we had over 800 sleds go up the trail.
We want to thank everybody who came and we also want to thank all
of our sponsors for this year. Not sure what the future holds for the BDSO but we will let you all know once we take a step back for
a bit. THANK YOU.
Because there was no hill climb Tim McGregor gets to retain his belt for another year.
